The sedan versions of the Flex and MKT would work too. In ascending order of plushness, that’s the Ford Taurus, Mercury Montego and Lincoln MKS. They are all extremely tall sedans with high, comfortable seats and large doors openings.

For the miniscule cost this must add to the purchase price, it seems like a good idea. I’d definitely appreciate it when I go to the beach.

A Suzuki SX4 might be a better choice if only because it’s almost a foot shorter and will be to park in a dense city like New York.

Musk doesn’t have a normal (or funny) sense of humor, but it seems he was just trying to be a dick.

Well stated. Thank you.

What’s wrong with the diesel?

The Rondo was a three-row mini-minivan (microvan?). It’s closest contemporary was the Mazda5. Today, the nearest equivalent suitable for family use is Ford’s Transit Connect. Car & Driver praised its space utilization “panoramic visibility, planted chassis and precise steering, but noted it was sluggish accelerating:

My friend bought a Rondo at my suggestion 12 years ago. He wanted something that wasn’t too big, but would would fit a family of four, plus two grandparents. The guy still has it, and the family loves it.

The 2014-2017 Chevy SS seems like a good option. Manual versions are pricey and rare, but it’s a great car and should be significantly more reliable than the BMW.

I wish I had a daughter you could marry.

Not bad!

How was the reliability of the Peugeots? The 505 wagon is known for being overbuilt, but I’m not as familiar with the 504 line.

Correct! I had a 1982 Mercedes 300 SD in the mid aughts and had no trouble using it for all my (mostly leisure) driving needs. Its 5-cylinder turbo diesel only put out 120 horsepower but got nearly 35 mpg on the highway. The only downside was pulling away from a dead stop... the big sedan was as slow as a loaded dump

Can they Photoshop me as well? It’d be nice to look like a blend of Fight Club-era Brad Pitt with Cool Hand Luke-era Paul Newman.

Was that a production car? It’s fantastic!

Thank you for this thorough write-up!

Looks are subjective, but I like the form-follows-function exterior well enough and think the interior looks great (especially with these discounts bringing the Bolt’s price so low).

Great picks.

I appreciate the old Volante styling cues and think the mix of wood and carbon fiber on the interior is beautifully integrated. The wheels are also gorgeous.

I don’t see The Drive as an improvement over Jalopnik.
