I completely agree! It's as if there are no career options at all aside from variations on doctor, lawyer, cop or boss of nothing in particular. I'd like to see a show about a mapmaker or something interesting and unique.

Personally I remain skeptical about how much things will change, but I think Lisa Friel is pretty amazing so the fact that they knew to contact her shows that someone is doing some actual work on this.
Mindy Kaling's mother was a gynecologist, so I think the choice was a nod to her mom. If I remember correctly from reading her book....
To be fair, though, not everyone likes Seinfeld (or It's Always Sunny, another show with a group of generally unlikable characters). I would otherwise agree that it would be telling if Bokbunzajoo said Seinfeld was great and picked on TMP for those same characteristics, or if a TV critic did it.
It isn't that simple, actually. If she set up the shot, commissioned it, etc., then it becomes a little more blurry. It really depends on the facts. There is an interesting IP case going on about this now because of a famous shot that a monkey (?) took of itself with a professional's camera (seriously). A company…
Yes, that would be correct. They will have to use a different strategy. If, for example, Nicholas Hoult took pictures of Jennifer Lawrence, he is the copyright holder and would presumably have an interest in not having someone else sell a photo he took. It is unlikely that he invaded her privacy by taking the photo…
Privacy laws and copyright laws are different, so unless you are a lawyer, you should stop going down this road. Ownership and privacy rights with respect to Lena and Jennifer are not comparable in the examples at hand. And before you ask, yes, I am a lawyer, and yes, I have some experience with both privacy and…
I am going to speculate that few know about that, because the emphasis of what's out there is primarily on Jennifer Lawrence specifically, the women who were listed (I don't recall seeing men listed), and the celebrities making public statements about the whole thing. Not to mention all the people demanding reposts…
Accidental post; lucky I was allowed to edit; nothing to see here...
Apparently Jennifer Lawrence's publicist has confirmed authenticity and will be seeking prosecution of anyone who downloaded the pictures, who shared on 4chan or any other sites, etc. The comments about how she (or anyone else) deserves it make me feel sick.
He's so lucky to have you!
I think it's actually rather telling in this circumstance that multiple other news outlets have labeled this as a sexist objectification of women. I also think there is a world of difference between Beyonce being the center of her own performances (note: I am not much of a Beyonce fan) and Sofia being an object on a…
I think you're onto something. This is perhaps my favorite of her red carpet looks, but I wish there was a splash of color with the black or that it was itself a different color. The neckline combined with the black makes it seem too severe, to me.
I will be sad to be in the greys again, but I'm really impressed that Gawker Media finally stepped up and took action (and that it was so immediate after the post you all wrote)!
I like this website for checking out charities, it was recommended to me by a friend who works in the nonprofit world: http://www.guidestar.org/
I mostly agree with you, but a lot of these celebrities are putting in a lot more time at the gym than any of us can afford, because they are paid to do it. I remember seeing an interview with Sandra Bullock (at least I think it was her...) where she talked about being paid to work out for hours in order to get into…
She may have started with a contract, but it may not be clear who the parties to it are if only one of them signed it. Which seems unlikely to me, but perhaps we'll see more in the news on this. It's an interesting legal issue and a sad issue for the "real life" aspects.
Nope. I'm more X than millennial, and millennials can be obnoxious, but if I'm sick of any entitlement it's that of the baby boomers refusing to retire, can't afford to retire because of the culture of "living on credit" that so many of them helped to create, and refusing to run businesses in ethical ways that treat…
You mean back when tuition was appropriately priced compared to everything else in the consumer price index and annual income? Good for you!
I agree, and would venture to add that I believe we have multiple soul mates who serve different purposes in our lives at different times. Some are meant to teach us something and leave, but a lot are meant to be that supportive, loving network that we need, the people who do stick around and make our lives nicer.…
