@elgilicious: I disagree, sand running by its very definition causes a hyper-flexion.
@elgilicious: You are correct, correlation does not imply causation, but achilles tendon tears do occur from "sudden plantar flexion." And correct me if I am wrong but soft sand running mostly encourages a sudden hyper-flexion of the foot.
Do not run on the beach.
