Bummer. I can’t afford to buy a new ICE vehicle. Between gas, maintenance, smog checks, brakes, stuff breaking down after ~50K miles due to the extreme heat cycles, friction, and jillions of moving parts there is just too much to go wrong expensively.
$399 USD every 6 months for full coverage. Tesla AutoPilot is never fully off. I have had her apply the brakes before I was able to. It’s frankly amazing. They will also take over and steer out of the way.
If you want to transport olds, or have a family I would get a Y. Olds and the gravitationally-enhanced have a hard time getting in my car. It’s an age-old problem, my Model 3 is both the most expensive car I’ve ever bought, and the cheapest.
I’m an Early Adopter, so I rarely represent the majority. But, I do represent the future. I’ve been driving fully electric cars for over 7 years, and have had solar panels for about 5 of those.
It depends. My Model 3 runs off my solar panels. Figure about $300 a month for gas for a G35x, and a $600 a month car payment to buy a car on a 5 year note is not bad at all, ~$300 a month to buy a fantastic car. It has an 8 year/120K mile warranty on the powertrain.
No, my Model 3 makes much more sense as a personal vehicle than my G35x. It’s faster, handles better, and has no maintenance. And, with my solar panels, costs almost nothing to run. On our last 2000 mile road-trip we only spent ~60$ on electricity.
I wondered why I’m seeing a lot of yellow C7 Corvettes lately.
Droll, very droll. The reference is to my stepfather, who’s car I made clear it was.
So true, but you don’t even have to be geriatric. My Mom did this in 1977 in my stepfather’s brand new Pontiac Grand Prix. Foot slipped off the brake onto the gas pulling into the driveway, went right through the garage to the back yard, where a big tree kept her from going into the nieghbor’s house. She was pregnant…
You poor bastards having to spend all that money and risk your health at gas stations during this pandemic.
I think that would beat it, since there are only 2 words. Let’s throw in an unnecessary capitalization.
ATM machine.
I’ve made that observation years ago to my Dad. But I used the 1925 Doble as my example. IMHO, ICE cars have reached the end of their evolution, and are ripe for replacement by superior EV technology.
Those clever Italians have perfected rusting glass. Impressive, most impressive.
Rust never sleeps.
Tesla is now worth more than GM and Ford combined. And still paying its bills.
