Right, because it's not possible that the chin strap broke? If the helmet hooked on the bar and didn't come off, might've snapped his neck. I have no idea if chin straps are designed to release after enough tension, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Yup. Bike helmets are designed for 12mph impacts. The speed your head is going if you were to simply keel over while stationary.

The car falling apart isn't necessarily evidence of its safety features working as designed, nor the reason why the driver was saved - but what is good is that the passenger cell is intact.

EDIT: watched the from-the-stands video in the link, not sure about my end of session theory. I see a lot of waving and people leaving the trackside. Still looks like he swerved to avoid someone last second, maybe someone went to pass someone else and cut in front of him.

If this scooter rider hadn't been wearing a helmet, this would have been a very different video.

I wonder how practical it would be to swiss-cheese the wing tanks with some semi-auto rifle fire. Or have someone put a couple of bullets into the engine compartment...civilian airplanes just aren't terribly durable.

Not ridiculous if the preview images didn't really show the ad well. It's certainly possible Honda's ad agency intentionally didn't show them previews that looked like the final product - or the ad's design was changed after the previews.
