Ah, that reminds me of just how sensible it would be to bring two of three of these mighty machines out of storage and give them to our friends the Brits. Given a B-52's range and bomb load, that would virtually guarantee that Argentina will never be foolish enough to start another Falkland War.

I'd add another that's a good idea whether you're employed or not. That's to adapt your talents or interests into a personal business. When have a regular job, let it slide. When that job ends, take up your business in earnest.

That vibration may be hard to pick up if the phone is on a desk. If you've got a more recent iPhone, you can have the camera LED flash for alerts including rings. Just make sure the flashing isn't going to be as disturbing to others as a ring. You'll find it here:

Studies like these are of minimal value, since they have to make assumptions about lifestyle. They're particularly bad when, as here, they lump entire countries together. The very fact that they'd create one ranking for a country the size and complexity of the U.S. is laughable. That makes about as much sense as

Why would I want control my thermostat from my Mac? It's only about ten feet away.

Not always the best choices. I've walked by Seattle's Diva Espresso hundreds of times. As the picture hints. The tables are few and tiny. You'll probably feel guilty occupying one for very long.

The hitch is that passenger aircraft are being used around the clock, so fuel saving mount up very quickly. In contrast, the USAF has been giving these B-52s their long service life and preserving their airframe by flying them as little as possible and doing a lot of crew training on simulators.

Guns are icky poo. They make loud noises. They have bright flashes and they scare the little squirrels in the park. We can't have then on iPhone screens. Oh no, not us. We're Apple, the fruity company.

Probably not the Atlanta airport. It has a completely separate terminal area for international flights.

Interesting how in some people a little fear, however contrived and exaggerated, brings out their apparently deeply embedded bigotries and starts their little potty mouths to running. Their default mode seems to be hate.

Those who'd like an alert when this happens again that's less visible that Kinja might want to list the Kindle they want at: camelcamelcamel.com

Keep in mind that in some states you may have to publish a notification about that death to alert those who may have debts to be collected. Failing to do that might complicate settling the will.

No thanks. I'm sticking with my Kindle 3. It has a decent text-to-speech, which Amazon has stripped out of these later models.

If the snow isn't so thick that it's placing too much stress on your roof, leave it there. Like the Eskimo igloo, it's providing additional insulation.

What's the best response to all these claims about chocolate's health benefits.....

Those who like to read just before going to sleep might want to check out the 1-watt red LED that Home Depot sells for under $4. It fits in a regular light bulb socket. Place it in a reflecting fixture and it is perfect for reading printed books or epaper readers late in the evening. It doesn't have the bluish light

The media is chattering about this being a "new novel" despite the fact that it's older than To Kill a Mockingbird. But there are hints (sadly) in the press releases that this one will have few new stories. Instead, it is the novel that, with lots of editorial prompting, became To Kill a Mockingbird.

Keep in mind that most of those holding garage sales want to end the day with nothing left. These are 'get rid of stuff' sales.

Siri gives all my contact information, which is fine with me.

Fascinating app. It's obviously the result of much thought and work. I like how he's integrated Markdown with writing.
