As a trial attorney who is in the courtroom practically every weekday, her shirt would be unacceptable in any of the courtrooms I practice in—ESPECIALLY if she was in a court of higher jurisdiction. It would also be unacceptable for a MAN to have bare shoulders as well. Reporter or not, she would have been kicked out.

fucking chill. if a man had shown up wearing a tank top, he too would have been turned away. guard didn't say her outfit was slutty. but it's pretty much required all people wear sleeves when entering a court room. sounds like the only one guilty of anything is lack of research by the new court reporter...

I agree. This is one of those places where I more often see the WOMEN dress inappropriately versus the men. I see men wearing their full suits and women wearing short sleeves. I don't see the issue. She wants to be a courtroom reporter, it's whats required.

This is probably one of the few instances where the dress code ISN'T sexist. Most courtrooms require sleeves on both sexes.

Yup. I've said it before and I'll say it again: it is not the job of women alone to fix rape culture. Systemic problems can't be solved on an individual level—the burden of fixing the culture has to be shared collectively.

Disagree. Women should absolutely learn to protect themselves. Its awesome to hear Miss USA say that, because it gives agency to young women. There is absolutely nothing wrong with women learning to protect themselves and fight back.

why do people seem to think that learning self-defense and teaching men not to rape are mutually exclusive? no one is blaming the victim if she gets rape, anything she can do to protect herself is good. also no one is blaming rape victims for not knowing self defense. we can try to teach people not to murder or

"Would it hurt if we all become black belts to defend against possible violent threats? No. But why should we have to?" Because we are living in the real world where "teaching men not to rape" sounds good, but is in reality just BULLSHIT!

Exactly. Out of everyone on the court last night, LeBron had the biggest vagina.

I think he was trying to distract her with humor, vis a via making it all about him instead.

I considered my year a research project (kind of like a real-world MBA), where I dove into productivity as deep as I could. I agree the experiment was a bit circular by design—it had to be—but at the end of the day I produced about 200,000 words that helped people get more done. I also now see productivity (the topic

boyfriend is taking a bath, reading. I barge in, demanding to know if all men are terrible, eyes blazing

Not that I support this, but it was probably just a kid on the yearbook staff.

Outside of Boston, no team in the east can play with the west.

The East/West divide is becoming more apparent every year. It's like watching a different league.

This is all I could think of after watching this.

Can we agree that those stupid pullups are stupid?
