@omgwtfbbq!: It was an Adams Probe 16, of which three were ever made.

Porsche Boxster Spyder. $61,200 base, You can option it up (and add weight back in) to the tune of $106,540. Or enough to have bought a spare regular Boxster.

My cousin worked for Newman Volvo Mazda here in CT. As of the early 2000's the Volvo was still in Newman's possession. My cousin also did some restoration bodywork on Newman's SHO powered taurus wagon.

@dal20402: Emissions and pollution created to build a new car will (in many cases) far exceed the emissions saved by replacing an older car.

@yoda2: Remember, the only way to be safe(TM) is to be driving the biggest and heaviest vehicle you can find. If you don't strap your two kids into a seven-seater, 5,000lb, V8 powered, 4WD SUV you should be found guilty of child abuse and be arrested!

@RLJ676-LS3 Commuter Car - for the environment: Or look at it this way. A vehicle that gets essentially $0 advertising and promotional budget, that hasn't been updated in nine years and who's development costs were amortized at least 1-2 DECADES ago is outselling three other Ford models (each of which is much newer).

Automakers' response to this news?

@fratto: People still make sweeping assumptions based on brand name? I'd rather actually compare the vehicles than assume one is going to be crap based on the badge nailed to the front.

Now playing

They also make a handy shish kabob skewer.

Geo Prizm, Toyota quality for Chevy money.

This is more offroading prowess than 95%+ of explorer owners need. And it will have the more comfortable ride than they want. Also big obvious SUVs are out of style and smaller crossovers are in. From a marketing standpoint this make perfect sense.

The biggest problem was that in the pursuit of that styling they lost serious functionality.

"stupid and boring"? You buy what my former housemate did, a early-2000 Plymouth Voyager.

@Optixtruf: I see a review mounted on the dash.

"lilliputian 17-inch wheels"

You all are missing the obvious upside to this car. You can see the driver in the 2nd pic, and he is clearly about two weeks older than dirt, and in the first pic you can see he is trundling along in the slow lane.

@Serj Berelson: the government? This is an independent venture not funded by the government in any way. And they plan to price them the same as a civilian vehicle + police specific mods, so they cost the same to buy, and in theory cost *less* to run.

Between morgan and all the other small companies that use them, I have to wonder if BMW sells as many engines units as they do cars. They do certainly seem to have a significant side business in powertrains for other small manufacturers.

@fastlove: How is it impossible? Go over the overpass come around the entrance loop and dive left, I don't see anything stopping someone from doing that, and causing havoc in all four lanes in the process.

now all you have to worry about is the guy entering at five and diving across all the lanes to exit at 6
