yeah no. Overcoming challenges doesn't get you self-esteem it teaches you to stick with it. Self-esteem is not the same as persevering or even succeeding in life. lets not get these things confused.

Scar tissue grows around many things that doctors "jam into" bodies. Just because it sounds disturbing doesn't mean it is. Modern medicine FTW.
I don't think a feeling of self worth should have to be earned by overcoming challenges; it should be inherent. Everyone has value because all beings have value. You could overcome a lot challenges and still feel shit if you don't know that you are born worthy of good feelings about yourself.
If only it didn't discuss beauty at all. As a dad I recently had to answer a question for my daughter's kindergarten application. It asked me to describe her without using any physical traits so that someone might pick her out of a group of her peers. Although I loathe the soul-crushing machine that is the NYC school…
I tend to agree with this view. A few years ago, William Gibson published a novel called Zero History in which a (very minor) character is a model who leaves the industry and finds work in another field. Apparently, when Gibson was researching the book, he found an essay I wrote years ago here at Jezebel, because he…
Hmmm...I am not sure I am getting the outrage.
I really want to be sympathetic, but the examples seem more like Dave Eggers fictionalizing things that happened in real life, which Losse wrote about first. I'm sure that if you read any number of accounts of employees working at Facebook or other tech startups there would mentions of getting passwords, Friday…
I thought it was 50% reenacted Nazi secrets?
I actually think the History channel is almost 95% geared toward exclusively men. It makes me crazy because I quite like History, but there is more to it than Hitler's Secret Army or God, Guns & Ammo. It's not all about guns. But the History Channel is.
oh jezzie.
I'm actually finding this video sad. yep, it makes me wanna cry.
It says 16 on the title of the video. I could easily see 10 kittens from the same mom, but 16 is a little implausible. That being said, I was surprised to see that they all had similar body types which means it is possible. Still, someone should step in and help mama out there.
I know! Can we talk about Vileda? Crowds of women eagerly go to a cleaning institute to learn about new cleaning products with Bond music playing in the background? WTF. What woman responsible for cleaning her home has time to go to a fucking cleaning institute.
Wait, since when are Albanian stereotypes a thing exclusive to the United States? Also, good on your for leaving. I'm sure wherever you are is a lovely utopia filled with non-judgmental individuals. Unless you're in South Korea.
Hi, just a question.
it's not a normal door knob it's push pull rotate, that picture is just demonstrating push
Yeah, they don't have any irregularly tall or short people depicted. Or people with three arms and only one leg. Or people without bodies, like fictional characters and such. All that body discrimination. But at least these bodies look recognizably human in terms of proportion.
And this characterizes 2 dimensional people as being all the same color.
one of the benefits of proper twerking technique.
