I can't even with that one. I love Whitney's version but credit where credit is due people.

And I weep that you do not call this the Marley defense.
Exactly. I don't get the outrage. They didn't shame her.
They're not saying anything negative about her body, but merely putting her in the mag for public judging (and yeah, I know that's what happens with her pageant work, but I'm against kid pageants as well) is really gross and fucked up. Clearly, YMMV.
Holy fuck, can you people READ? No one is making fun of her or body shaming her. I swear some people on here should have a huge "TRIGGER WARNING" poster inside their front door, just so they're prepared to walk out into the world every morning.
Do what, exactly? Publish a pic of a kid who is constantly on TV? They're not making fun of her or bodysnarking.
I know it's a little messed up to be talking about an 8-year-old's beach body, but at least they don't say anything negative about her or criticise her shape. That snippet of the magazine seems to be pro-celebrities of all ages in their beach wear.
I went to Smith, too. I played rugby for one year, and that was the extent of my group. Other than that, I hung out with my house mates. No groups. No groups for groups.
That reminds me of a study where men in college classes perceive women as getting equal class time when the women speak about 10% of the time, but when women are actually speaking/contributing 50% of the discussion the men feel like they're totally taking it over. I wish I had a link handy, but the idea is very much…
Minorities need minority spaces because everywhere else is a de facto majority space.
1) It's just UMass, trust me. Obviously you did not go to one of the Five Colleges; there's no need to add the "Amherst" on the end.
Uhh, there is another college just called Amherst.
But isn't Judaism unique in that, moreso than other religions there IS a correlation between race and religion? Jewish people coming from the 12 tribes and all.
But . . . Jews are an ethnoreligious group. There is such a thing as Jewish ethnicity, separate from cultural/religious Judaism.
Well, I'd say it's not because they want to be white. Agreed.
I would entertain the idea that while Chen maybe never said to herself, "I look too Chinese and I'll never be successful," she may have said to herself, "My eyes are too small and I'll never be successful." Same goes for women who get the "ethnic bump" taken out of their noses.
My (far more ethnically Jewish than I) Jewish relatives joke about their noses, some of which do have very distinct bumps, and my nose, which also has a distinct bump.
Whether it's offensive or not, it really doesn't back up Chen's claims that she was trying to soften her ethnicity though, does it.
Can we also address Sharon Osbourne saying "Jew-bump" because I am...really not cool with that.
