To be fair- those STOL planes are radically modified to do STOL competitions. Whereas this SuperCub is a regular plane that has been lightened.

I would add that the site for STOL conditions is special as well. There’s a steady breeze off the sea, meaning the airspeed can be a lot higher than the ground speed for take offs and landings. I have seen an STOL airplane land flying *backwards* relative to the ground at an airshow. Steady 35mph wind, <35mph stall speed...They really look like a ton of fun, and of course if you are going to crash, the slower the better.
