Okay... so... what was this case about then?
Okay... so... what was this case about then?
So to clear this up: Out of all parties involved in giving impermissible benefits to a player, the schools and coaches won’t face any risk of federal charges, but the players/parents/shoe companies, etc... could still face them?
Dennis Smith’s situation was perphaps the most open of open secrets I’ve seen. Like, I saw multiple people I follow subtweet about it all season and draft proscess. It was bordering farcical how obvious it was with shady ass Andy Miller facilitating the whole thing.
Just came here to say that dogs whip ass. Shoutout to dogs.
By “I just wanna talk” I sincerely hope you mean “I just wanna give this fucking dork a swirly”
I just had to share this. Imagine being this big of bootlicker for dipshit billionaire NFL owners.
Yes.
So by your logic, really nobody should watch College Football because regardless of who your head coach is, it’s a structurally rotten system built on the exploitation of labor?
Buddy, trust me, I’ve lost a shit ton of sleep trying to reconcile this mess and how it impacts my fandom. It still bothers me. Still disgusts me. You’re not me, you have no idea how I feel about all of it.
I agree with this
You completely misread what I wrote.
You give other coaches far too much credit.
And nobody is saying these kids are perfect. I’m aware players do bad things too. Also, there was never any knowledge of what Zeke did when he was here. Had there been, I would have viewed him much different. But that’s beside the point.
But I am rooting for the kids. The kids who work their ass off to represent the institution I have a deep connection with. The kids who make College Football such an entertaining product. The kids who do all of this without making a red cent, putting their labor and body on the line every Saturday in the fall. One can…
There is nothing that pisses me off more than when fanbases jump on 17-year old kids for not picking their school. Doesn’t matter if they choose OSU, Michigan or Alabama. My solidarity is with them. Always has been. Always will be. What are you asking me to be honest about? That I root for the school I attented? Of…
What exactly does that mean? Buddy, if you don’t think I’m being sincere when I say I root for the kids, you can fuck off. They are the labor. They put their bodies on the line to help enrich these assholes. My solidarity is with them and only them.
Yeah. I don’t use this as pushback when people want to rag on my affiliation with OSU given this issue, but I know it’s true: Almost any coach in the country would have handled the situation the same way. If you don’t believe it, you’re lying to yourself. This isn’t to absolve Urban. It’s just the truth.
God Dammit. As an OSU alum and diehard fan, times like this I need to remember that I root for the kids. Not the coaches. It’s the players who make College Football so brilliant and entertaining. Not the coaches who uphold the structurally rotten status quo behind the sport.
As someone who is a.) a massive college football fan, b.) has cursory knowledge of what the RPO is, and c.) has read Das Kapital and The Communist Manifesto... I still have no clue what he’s talking about.
Shut the fuck up.
