I VERY much agree with that. But signing a new lease and being like, “ I want to breakup, I’m moving out tomorrow... Enjoy the full lease” is so beyond shitty...

I think it’s a variable no matter where you live. Not cool to leave someone you have been splitting the bills with on the hook for everything without notice.

But putting “not being a dick” aside, what if this person can’t afford the rent? I would seriously be blown away if I heard of that happening to a friend, or that a friend was about to do that. Woman up, and have a conversation, then jump onto Craigslist.

I can’t agree with that. They are “best friends”. Leaving someone on the hook for rent they may not be able to afford because you want to be more comfortable, isn’t good enough. Deal with your issues, then quickly find a place once that is settled. I’d be devastated if that was done to me, wishing they had told me…
