"Computer coding ability has gotten especially hip recently. People who can't code revere it as 21st century sorcery, while those who do it professionally are often driven to fits by it."
Also, I find a lot of great beers I've never heard of or tried through my "friends" on there. The only downside is that I've switched to almost exclusively drinking beer (if that's a negative), and I've gained about 10 pounds in the past year, haha.
Yeah, you can totally lock it off of other social media, it is not dependent on any of them. It is merely an option if you want it. For example, I only post to my foursquare when I check into places, because it saves me a step. It really helps me remember what I like and don't like, and refer friends to good beers.

Our softball league was in the fall, so we'd get a lot of guys (in a rec social league) that would play in uber-competitive leagues during the spring and summer that would wind down because no other leagues were playing. We also have no home run limit (dumb) per game, so they'd show up in full baseball attire, jack…
I would really bring knowledge to the table, because if you get one thing wrong people will question you about it. If you have a baseball or softball past, use that, but make sure to learn your local club's rule changes, as they can usurp a legitimate rule elsewhere (like infield fly rules).
