From a purely gaming perspective...
There is zero reason to get an Xbox One. Not when every single multiplatformer is superior on the PS4. One of the biggest factors for getting an Xbox 360 last gen was that most games (that weren't exclusives) ran noticeably better than on the PS3. This gen, it's reversed.
The majority of the games i buy are cross platform not exclusives. So PS4 system is cheaper by 100 bucks, yet cross platform games are better. So better game experience at a cheaper price is something i'd definitely call a better value.
Because of the networking and accounts, people are going to be a lot more likely to stay with their same platform. The only reason I stayed with Microsoft is because of all of the live connections I and my family already had. It is demonstrably a worse value.
