The big problem is that consoles simply cannot stay competitive with PCs while remaining at “appliance” prices. They are already a money-pit for Sony and Microsoft, even with their severely gimped processing power and low memory, but over the long term they recoup losses from third-party licensing.

If you like online play with others then probably worth it. Personally, I can’t stand playing multiplayer. If you want a solo experience I’d say skip it... there isn’t much meat on these bones for $60, but it’s a damn fine looking game.

It’s the basic treadmill approach to gaming which pervades aRPGs and MMOs. The goal is not to “finish” in the traditional sense but to continue doing the same thing but better/faster, etc. It’s RPG’s for minmaxers in that the numbers are more important than the immersion of playing the character, exploring the world…
