The 360 was pretty new at the time. He was talking about slowing the elevators when there was more to load. More detail in the environments, and the like.

My 11 year old son loved JRPGs, so I have seen some of the games that he has. I thought that he probably like them because the characters have a childlike quality to them, even if they are supposed to be adult.

Defense! Defense! Defense!

I am clueless as to how you are clueless about why I am clueless as to why you said that I am clueless.

It is not necessary. It is a nice take on horde mode, though. I didn't play it much, but it is fun, especially with friends.

Yeah... But you can pick anything apart. The fact is, Mass Effect hit many many people on an emotional level. People felt real connections to the character, and even the locations to a degree that had never been done before on such a large scale. Emotionally, the only things that I can think of that come close are

I am completely clueless as to what the hell you are talking about, as I'm sure the majority of people that have had dealings with you are.

Ooooo. Burn

I think Mass Effect day would have upset the ME hating sect of Kotaku readers even more. There is so much to be said about Mass Effect that there would not have been any other content covered. Can you imagine the hate that would gin up?

The wise old Sage could give you helpful advice, if you needed it.

It's because the series has deeply touched so many people in a way that no other game ever has. For some of us, the story felt like we were not just playing a game, but were actually part of it. That is also why the idea of a man playing as FemShep is disgusting to me.

Off the top of my head... Sora: FF, Cloud: FF, Tifa: FF, Mustadio: FF, Vyse: Skies of Arcadia, Ashton Anchors: Star Ocean, Etna: Disgaea, All the characters from Grandia, Hero Jessica and Princess Medea from Dragon Quest VIII, Leah Marcy Razzly Van from Chrono Cross...

Overall, I thought 2 was a better game. The RPG elements were more refined, and I didn't have to spend as much time dinking around with them. Combat was refined, and I loved the cast of characters. It felt more like I was in control of an entire living crew. Each character had more to say, and was better fleshed out.

Ah.. Got ya.

Something that I have not seen discussed much is the sound. Some of the best sound I have ever heard in any medium, bar none. It's well worth the price of admission, especially for $10.

The memorial for Thane caused my face to start leaking.

It's a bit like being on a long flight with a baby that won't quit crying. After a while you are praying that it will go to sleep so that the crying will stop.

I can't see how you feel that Mass Effect is overrated. There is nothing else like it in gaming. It is truly an epic. It's like saying that Star Wars is overrated, back in 1984. Most people would think that you just didn't get it.

You are supposed to begin a sentence with the first letter of the first word being capitalized. Also, you should avoid beginning the first sentence in a new paragraph with a subordinating conjunction.

Nah... It was more of a, WTF!?! I have to preorder this now!, kinda thing. I think it worked well.
