Ha! I’d have told the MIL that anything addressed to Mrs Husbands first name Husbands Last Name will be put, unopened, in the shredder.

I was hoping to find such faiths that have unfailingly kind followers.
I am starting to believe this syndrome (Munchausen-by-proxy) is more widespread that we know.
Yes! She was fantastic. Chris Burton won my vote though. LOVE that horse. I also decided he’s my Olympics boyfriend, hahaha
Yes! And holy crap, William Fox Pitt was put in a coma for two weeks after a riding accident, got out of the hospital, back on his horses, and kicked the ass of that TOUGH Olympic XC course. If he isn’t the toughest guy in the Olympics I don’t know who is.
Gurl, I feel you. My primary discipline is dressage but I grew up eventing. I took my 5 y.o. XC schooling today.... Holy crap I forgot how hard it is, I’m EXHAUSTED and in a heap on the couch right now. All disciplines are a serious physical challenge and each one requires a slightly different type of fitness and…
Well, there are two types of dressage in the Olympics. There’s the dressage portion of eventing, which is what you’re referring to, and there’s pure dressage. I don’t recognize the horse in Kara’s photo offhand but I *think* this is the dressage team. Eventing dressage is a little easier, as they’re judged on a…
THANK YOU. A pretty damn good description of the complexity of the sport. I think that’s why everyone who loves the discipline is type A to one degree or another, LOL! I grew up eventing but when I finally started to “get” dressage I was a convert. The precision is so challenging and when it’s right it feels so cool!…
This is a really good analogy! Since I live in the western US and most people have been sore AF after an hour-long trail ride on a rented dude horse, I usually just go “dude, that’s not even baby steps and you couldn’t hack it” but that falls flat for those who have literally 0 horse experience.
I have a 4 y/o Perch/Paint that I’m hoping to make into an eventer.
And don't forget (if someone hasn't mentioned it) the only sport where men and women compete against each other directly and equally.
A short addendum: Think about spending a day in a pool or a lake and how exhausted you are when you finally go home. Floating around in water and riding a horse (just at a walk) require constant small muscle adjustments to move with and against the water/animal. So even when you’re doing “nothing” you’re actually…
You need wayyyyy more stars for that explanation.
Dressage (well, and equestrian sports in general) are incredibly complex, so it’s really difficult to explain them. First, realize that just riding a horse requires more physical strength and ability that most people realize. You’ve got to constantly be moving in sync with the animal just to stay on its back, which…
brilliant social commentary. so spot on and hilarious. ditto to the other note about reading your book - I’d totally read it!
The one in the middle looks like a woman who started barking racial slurs at me back when I was working at a copy center in Ohio. She was upset that the free to use scissors in the self service area where not sharp enough. Worst part was her obviously biracial son standing behind her, staring at his feet trying to be…
You are the kind of commenter that keeps me coming back to Jezebel. Kudos, and thank you for your service!
HAHAHAHAHA IVE BEEN IN OHIO FOR EIGHT YEARS AND THIS IS 100% VERIFIED TRUTH
GTFO Conneticut is Stars Hallow for days. Right? RIGHT?????
Ah, yep.
