You win the thread. Hands down. Oh my god. I could go anti-window-shopping for days on this site alone. If you ever feel like online window shopping on one of the open threads, feel free and I'll join in if I see it! You clearly have the right idea!

I wish you guys realized how brutally awful you're being toward women who a) own unmodified Barbie vulvae and didn't realize they were less than 100% woman until a herd of insecure asshats started bleating about how prepubescent and immature Barbies are, or b) own the polar opposite of a Barbie and want this surgery

Today I had to go down to Social Security to change the name on my card back to my maiden name. It was hassle enough to change it to my ex's when we married, hassle enough to deal with his petulant fundie-white-male-privileged whining that he didn't think I was getting the name change done fast enough for his liking

Dunno, the "fatass" reference and the fact that the menu uses dollar signs instead of pounds kind of make me think this isn't quite legit.

I appreciate the link. It doesn't make me very happy either, though I can half-see where he's coming from in that states have traditionally drawn the right to define marriage laws in their own jurisdictions. But you're still deflecting. Obama's stance on gay marriage does not in any way make what these fading

A rant like Stanley's (and Coen's before him) says more about the speaker than the cause. His selective memory and confirmation bias have left out dozens of male leads who are puny, weak man-children (Shia LeWhozit, Michael Cera, just about every leading man in the "stupid hipster meets impossibly cool girl" genre),

Oh man I wish that were true. If I had a nickel for every narcissistic, awful woman who thinks that despite being dumpy, uneducated, unattractive, repressed, and riddled with lifestyle diseases that she rates getting a perfect 10, you guys would never see my pale ass on this site again because I'd be living it up

Oh, and now we're moving goalposts. Good work! Soon you'll fill my bingo card.

There's nothing wrong with seeking a partner who values his health. That, along with the eats "all" foods things, tells me she tries to take care of herself and doesn't want a couch potato who refuses to touch vegetables because he's convinced himself he's a "super-taster" or whatever. A guy who's turned off by those

You're not going to find anything useful at the cheap stores. I gave up on them decades ago. There's no point in buying cheap shoes that hurt. Look online for Lady Jane's site, and Endless might have some good finds as well (I found some gorgeous low-heel sandals there that feel awesome to walk in).

When I lived in a very small Midwestern town, most of our social circle had some sort of nickname, but it wasn't restricted to people who were dating. I haven't seen nicknames get widely used otherwise. When I was dating, I referred to "Chris, you know, the guy I met at the gym" as "the hot gym guy" as a shorthand,

I hated these in the 80s when I joined the workforce, and I hate them now. They don't symbolize feminine power to me at all—they're ugly, uncomfortable, and frou-frou, and unless they're ickie polyester or nylon, ironing them is a bitch and a half.

Please consider telling your alma mater how you feel. Schools are extremely sensitive to the opinions of their alumni/ae, as we donate money to them and send our kids, if we have any, to them (and spread word of mouth about our experiences there).

I know exactly what you mean. I feel that same nameless, shapeless horror too when I read about politicians wanting to rob me of my most intimate decisions, when I get told again and again and again that it's ALL MY FAULT if I get raped or otherwise abused, when I hear about people who gleefully lick their lips over

It's the deeply concerned, I-know-best paternal look, I think. This guy looks exactly like a father who's just now learning that his kid got someone pregnant/got pregnant.

False equivalence. The Democratic platform doesn't include institutionalized bigotry, and Obama was a sitting president with another term to win still. These Republicans have a platform that *does* institutionalize their bigotry, and almost none of them are actually still active politicians, so they're totally "safe."

I think it does matter why there's an uptick in abortions in that demographic. I'd be curious about whether there's some change in how accessible contraception is for women in that age and economic bracket. I'm glad that these women have the safety net of accessible and safe abortion for these unwanted pregnancies—I

It's not a sign of enlightenment, just a cold-hearted, calculated response to how people are voting now. When the GOP was getting a lot of votes from fundies, they mouthed anti-gay and anti-reproductive choice rhetoric. Now evangelical Christianity is hemorrhaging members, its social positions are seen as abhorrent

You know you've arrived as a game tester when the devs decide to make tye9r, er, their code recognize your most common typos.

Michael Weston is the first person I thought of as well. Yay for men who are so secure in their masculinity that they don't even realize what a risk they're running of getting caught eating (horrors! clutch the pearl cufflinks! hide the cigars!) GIRLIE GIRL blueberry yogurt in those GIRLIE GIRL flowery plastic tubs.
