That gentle tip over explosion was triggered intentionally... The rocket was out of control and at risk for leaving its safe area, so they initiated self destruct.

“If the barge has to move 20 ft in any different direction”

SpaceX *did* try parachutes for the first few times. It doesn’t make things easier. You still need retro-propulsion to survive the first atmospheric entry. And what part of the physics involved do you think you can hand-wave away to make it easier to to go back to land? They are going too fast... Don’t have enough

“You can’t do this with a skiff and a Johnson outboard. Geez, give some credit where credit is due people.”

How is it “inefficient”? It’s all about momentum and physics. It takes a lot of energy to turn around and return all the way to the launch site - and they can only do that with lighter payloads.

Thankfully SpaceX and Elon put a little more thought into their engineering decisions than just googling “parachute”. They - unlike you - are well aware of the benefits AND drawbacks of parachutes.

No. The ship/barge only maintains a GPS location - and the rocket targets that. There is no communication between them. If the barge shifts, the rocket will land in the ocean. The barge is FAR simpler than the rocket.

"Are these digital or physical filters?"

Most digital camera sensors have built-in IR filters to filter out infra-red - to improve the image quality.

True, so it solves one problem while making another problem (more time for people to peek over your shoulder).

How does it make it more secure, if you now have to pay much more attention and therefor input the code much slower? (Giving people peeking at you more time to see what you are entering)

Yeah, this is ridiculous. The film should be seen not because of its media format, but because of its content.

That's an artist rendering and doesn't count... It always looks worse in reality!

Articles like this are IMO slightly disingenuous - The vast majority of people will NOT be saving any $$$ by going off contract.

Photosynth is OK, - I got it years ago - but I got tired of its poor quality output. I hope views will be better.

"but the fact is that it could be done today using existing display technologies. "

There are a variety of scout alternatives in the U.S. and worldwide, see a Wiki list here:

What it taken too much effort to have the animation frames actually line up? That would make it far more easy to understand, instead of roads shifting, scale shifting, and more. A few minutes in photoshop (or any image editor) could easily have lined them up to overlay each other better.

Why don't you post some misleading graphs from the "other political slant" then, to show you point? Surely there are some?
