As far as the mainstream circuit goes, Black Thought can still murder a microphone. I've seen him rhyme from the top in a basement years ago for about 10 minutes straight. It was a thing of beauty. The real MCs can't stay away from a cipher.

Freestyling isn't his thing. Mos can kill it. And Black Thought is a monster.

I'd put money on it being mostly created in some capacity beforehand. He didn't just show up and do an impromptu 800 minute rhyme about the plight of the black community. I'd bet a child on that. He may have done a bit of improvising, but he gets very little freestyling credit from me on this performance.

Sure. They aren't the lyrics to the song. But rappers write a tremendous amount of material, and then pull out nuggets or themes they've worked on as if they're stream of consciousness all the time. It's hard to determine what's really a freestyle these days outside of saying, "Rhyme about that person over there, the

If by tying the knot, you mean asking a question, then no I don't. It's a lovely world when asking what the value is in a response becomes a noose-tying activity.

Several things:

I'm not sure why your blackness is relevant, but, anyway, that bit of history doesn't get lost. Those land owners were all white. And if you were a non-land owner, there was a possibility of getting land and the right to vote ... if you were white. That's not the case if you were black. Or a woman. You'll also find

Hey guys, did you hear that not everyone has read everything on Jezebel over the last year? Crazy, I know. Am I right, guys?!

No worries. If there was already a brutal war over this on here, there's no need to for me to open up old wounds.

Side note: I don't mind starting a fight. Is having a group of people who are strongly pro- and another strongly con- a reason not to talk about something? Isn't that what the internet's for? I thought it was for angry non-exchanges of ideas.

Re: the tangent, I was just having a conversation about the song. It was in my head when I read the article. So the topic of rape was on my mind, and I guess this update triggered everything coming together.

Sometimes you wonder about the origins of a culture of male entitlement to women's bodies in this here America. Then you come across rape-y Christmas tunes. Take it away Bing Crosby & Doris Day! And Zooey Deschanel & Leon Redbone! And Bette Midler & James Caan! And Robert Palmer & Carnie Wilson! And tons of other

I just very seriously said, "Call my girlfriend and cry."

I'm intrigued by our fascination with tracking the status of people's relationships, as if we're trying to prove something unsaid to ourselves.

Did Charles Barkley re-sign for the Sixers? This sounds like his signing bonus.

Venture capital.

Technology Gone Wild! Soon we will be able to store information in our significant others. I imagine it will be something like a brain. And the higher quality ones will also help you achieve maximum stimulation. Crazy world, this is.

I swear I'm counting down the days until I see: "Adorable Pug Drives Hummer In Carpool Lane With Two Rescue Children On Roof."

"Not his fucking dishes, you think, remembering the pile up of clay bowls and yerba mate straws that wait back at the apartment."

It was by far the best Deadspin institution.
