I read it as the $4,000,000 was only 60% of the budget, that they got additional funding elswhere.

$1m budget
Reread his comments about budget. I’m pretty sure it’s the other around, just poorly worded. He’s saying that the 4 million was 60% of the total development cost. In other words the total cost of the project was closer to 6.7 million.
Yes they used unreal 3, which should have been more than enough, however a lot of the online features they promised (again going back to the over-promising thing) were things they didn’t realize where incredibly difficult to program in Unreal 3, directly causing one of the delays. In Inafune’s own words:
I read that completely differently. I thought it said that $4m was only 60% of the budget.
You are not wrong, but it’s a good way to show performance off, even if there are lots of considerations to be included by whoever is evaluing it.
The article wasn’t even trying to imply that Unity simply makes art good by pressing a button. It’s saying that it now allows developers to use features that previously only custom/proprietary engines or UE could do and allow devs to use those features easily with their games so that their art is no longer restricted…
If you know what it means then it’s an actual good representation of performance. Animated movies like Pixar’s Up are all keyframed and set up on 1 computer (well as many computers as there are animators but you get my point), but then the data is sent to a render farm which is hundreds of computers all working…
That Leeroy Jenkins one... absolutely priceless.
From the PotGs I’ve seen, I’d say Ramsey would have been rewarded it when he killed Wun Wun.
I had totally forgotten all about Paragon until you posted this article just now...
You’re not getting a point of a tech demo. It’s not really to JUST show off the engine, it’s to also experiment with/showcase new technology. For example, they used an experimental real-time area light, and the demk showcased how having it can be REALLY damn good. But you’re worrying too much, this is to get people…
A video like this is no different than the promo videos companies like Unreal do, so I don’t see the issue. Engine promos are always made to show the absolute peak possibility in graphical performance the engine could do.
Divinity: Original Sin is still the best example I’ve seen come out of kickstarter.
I know. That’s true. But so far that this was the only art of this game I was interested. Just take a look at the UbiArt framework used in Rayman reboot. It is almost the same as the art above.
This game has been such a shit-show. Very average reviews, and somehow the finished product looks worse than the initial pitch.
Yes when he was getting trampled I honestly though they were going to lose and he was going to die again, and this time for good.
I kept thinking Ramsey was playing his game with Rickon just to bring Jon within range of his arrows. Having Jon die before the battle starts would be the ultimate GRRM move
For real. I kept waiting for THE BAD THING to happen. For a second I thought Jon was going to suffocate under an increasing pile of bodies, just the most pointless and non-glorious death possible, just to GRRM us good.
