Have you read Death in Yellowstone? People have been astonishingly stupid around the animals ever since the park opened.

I’m from NY, and I know better. Some people are astonishingly uninformed about animals. I mean, you shouldn’t even try to pet a squirrel, much less a bear or a bison.

When I was hiking with a group in Yellowstone, a bison approached us on the path. We gave it as wide a berth as the terrain would allow. It was amazing to see one as close as we did, but we knew better than to try to get closer.

I saw people doing this when I was at Yellowstone. I think everyone should be required to read and pass a quiz on Death in Yellowstone before being allowed into the park.
