I think they are intentionally causing confusion to have a means to sell old stock.  I mean who is going to buy a xbox one s in 2020 unless they get it confused with the xbox one series s.

Actually this was quite common. Nintendo encouraged developers to make their NES ports different from the arcade counterparts. That’s why games like Ninja Gaiden bear next to no resemblance to the arcade version.

Weird. Mona Lisa is actually a very old character, appearing in the original TMNT cartoon.  She looked nothing like that though as she was essentially a green lizard with a belt, headband and scarf.  I think she appeared in the 2012 cartoon as well where she was literally a lizard.

It absolutely wasn’t the “artist” and was Nintendo that blocked the release of unused assets and source code. Most developers are glad to get some recognition for their work and are happy to release behind the scenes stuff but their parent company wants that precious IP under lock and key so they won’t let them.
