Absolutely.  That was his strategy from day 1.  The House brought the articles of impeachment on Jan 15th.  McConnell delayed the trial until Feb 8th, then uses that to say “He’s guilty, but we can’t convict him once he’s out of office.”  So trump himself could have testified and said “Yes, I incited the insurrection,…

And now we have McConnell saying that Trump absolutely is guilty as charged but that it is up to the criminal justice system to deal with him. He was always planning on passing the buck.

The Democrats wanted to call one witness, so the GOP threatened to bring in hundreds. That witness, however, is very much wanting to speak up so I expect her to be in the media in the coming week explaining exactly what went down to a wider audience.

I mean yeah, he was never gonna get convicted in a trial where half the jurors we’re co-conspirators or party members. It’s like if I went to court for something and half the jurors were my friends and family.
