Sega had a less intense version of this in Phantasy Star IV. A boss midway through the game has a special attack they do at low health. On a ROM or pirate copy, this attack caused the game to lock up. The only way past it was to get your whole party to lvl 99 so that you can one-shot the boss before he does the…
