If they start with a new game, with mod assets being created with their system in mind, it will likely work much better. The idea itself isn't a bad thing.

I see no problem whatsoever with paid mods, with one caveat: everything in the mod MUST be the work of the person being paid for the mod, or all contributers must give consent and a fair cut of the profit should they want it. And I see that being the biggest bone of contention as well as the biggest hurdle.

Yeah, that’s what I was getting at. Like if they took the actual engine running Sonic 2, 3 or Sonic CD and just used that to run models around with a 2.5D floating camera. So it still has the old Sonic feel in your hands but looks modern.

You don’t even need flat sprites. 3D models work perfectly fine, just preserve the 2D gameplay. I’m reminded of the old Klonoa games on PS1. The “2.5d” thing worked perfectly there.

You cant really tell someone if a like or dislike is valid. Its their opinion. They have a right to it, and you have a right to disagree.

Keyboard and Mouse controls. I so want to play Minecraft on PC. But for so long, Ive played it on the Xbox that trying to get used to them on the PC version is infuriating. I've used emulators to fake controller support but there are just so many things that you still have to use the KBM for.

It is- depending on the kind of game. If its a single player game with a clearly defined protagonist with their own personality, then yes it's fine with whoever they make for the role.
