I came here to say exactly this! I struggled to think of two dudes to pit against each other, though, because we just don't do that, even to dudes in the same field. Maybe David Rakoff and David Sedaris, but they were ostensibly friends.

A better question is why we should measure their sales against each other's, and how it plays into the misogynist habit of assuming any two women who exist in the same space are competing. John Cleese and Martin Short have memoirs out too: Why not throw them into the comparison?

I've read both books. I enjoyed Amy's more, though Lena's was much more open about herself. Amy Poehler shares very little about her actual self.

I, in fact, have read both. Poehler's, of course, is way more hilarious, but her writing isn't as vibrant and evocative as Dunham's.
