The "K" is there so it sounds like "Ko" (little) and "Otaku", "Little Otaku". Kotaku has its roots with reporting game news from Japan to the US audience.

Gears of War is the only FPS I've played that feels like a run n' gun SNES game. It's more focused on being wacky and huge than super grim realizms. I just have more fun shooting giant mutants with blastoise cannons than yet another terrorist.
