Nice.

Damn

Sweet mama, I’m in love!

I agree, Teemu Suninen or Pontus Tidemand would be good choices for next year. Even Kajetan Kajetanowicz or Jan Kopecky (both older drivers) would be good short term choices, KJ is fast an already drives a fiesta R5. As long as they don’t put Eric Camilli in a WRC car again, I think they will be fine.

Damn. I thought Torch’s slightly demented personality was just for the articles. But he really is a nutcase. You can see it in his eyes. Never change, Jalopnik. Never change.

I can’t wait to see how he does next year in a Toyota. That team clearly has potential and investing in Ott is a definite statement of intent.

The access was still free and actually easier before Ford bought rights for the US this year. They pull the video 24 hours or so after it airs and don’t repost until the day before the next event. Hopefully the series will reenable the stream on the US next year. Glad yourself and others found the series through Ford

The thing is that Bakkerud and Block were a really good pairing for the team. There was Ken, who is obviously very well known in the automotive scene, and has amazing car control, but was as far as I can tell (bearing in mind I haven’t really been following WRX) a mid field driver. However, he was worth t for the team

I’m not so sure about the car being a disadvantage. It won multiple events the first year out and there were a number of times this year when it was the fastest non-VW. It consistently has Peugeot’s number and is about even on pace with the Audis

WorldRX is massive outside the United States. Some events bring in 40,000+ fans and the live global audience is in the millions. There are multiple GP circuits on the championship schedule, and next year they’re asking another one with Silverstone. The championship also has Sebastian Loeb, Petter Solberg, and two DTM

WorldRX offers the exact same YouTube livestream that Ford Performance has been streaming, minus the Ford commercial breaks. It’s just that said WorldRX stream is region blocked in the United States because Ford bought exclusive rights here.

The regulations aren’t changing for next year. VW just showed up with a car based off the old Polo WRC which has some fundamental differences compared to a traditional rallycross design. The VW seems to have a tiny pace advantage which is being magnified by having the 2 best rallycross drivers in the world driving

VW showed up with a new car based off the old Polo WRC and seem to have found a bit of pace over everyone else. Everybody is flipping out right now about how to catch them. The new Polo has some fundamental differences to a traditional rallycross design and teams are freaking out thinking they have to go to a clean

This form of rallycross has been around since 1967. It is the singular definition of rallycross. Anything else you’ve heard called rallycross has been mis-named.

Now playing

Lol, no. Rallycross is a sport made for TV which sees 4-10 cars competing in a race format around a track that is both asphalt and dirt. The cars are 600hp and do 0-100 in under 2 seconds. On dirt.

The car was always too big, for starters. Watching it next to the Polo and A1 and 208 was so goofy. Ford had a marketing agenda that didn’t quite line up with the competition, and with the uncertainty in the regs for next year it didn’t make a lot of sense to dump development money into a chassis that was always going

Seems like this announcement was in response to Peugeot’s increased involvement in World RX. I remember reading about some teams complaining about the rise in costs with VW and Audi also supporting teams in the series. Sounds like Ford is simply not wanting to be part of that arms race. Hopefully World RX is not

WorldRX is an amazingly entertaining series to watch. I’ve been completely hooked on it the past two years.

The only possible reason I can think for this would be for Ford upping their commitment in the WRC. They may need to do that to keep Ogier around with M-Sport even though Tänak’s already announced he’s staying. Ogier’s being eyed heavily by other teams *especially* given that M-Sport isn’t a manufacturer and Ford

Global Rallycross and the FIA World Rallycross Championship are two different entities. FIA WRX drew 16,000 people into a mud hole in Germany and last years start of the Supercar final was a social media sensation among the car community. So while I am not sure if it pays of from a monetary standpoint, it sure is
