There’s an old fire brigade Barkas van near me in Bremen, so they certainly ended up in the west too.

I was in Dülmen a couple of weeks ago and can confirm that the factory still exists.
It should be mentioned that the Citroen C3 chassis has been essentially proven to be fourth best after the Hyundai, Ford, and Toyota teams. Craig Breen, in Loeb’s sister car, could place no better than 8th overall.
With all due respect, McRae was already past his prime in the WRC by the mid’00s. Although if Richard Burns and Markko Märtin could’ve challenged Loeb together with Solberg and Grönholm...
What was special about Saab was FWD, Turbo and safety. Not being a boring boat based on an Opel.
Well, the Cimarron and the Opel Ascona C are also the same cars with some badge-engineering..
Yeah I can understand that point of view, especially with the politics of Norway and Netherlands regardig electric/hybrid cars. People still need that extra encouragement in order to try out something new and unknown though, or else they’ll continue to buy the same as they used to. You don’t see many electric cars in…
Yeah I should have mentioned that the American market is on a whole another level of conservative...
Not surprised by this. The European market as a whole is too conservative to justify a complete change to electric cars that early. In Germany the discussion is still between Petrol/Diesel...
The Model 3 would be too big for rallycross, but I hope they introduce an even smaller model before WorldRX switch to electric cars. It would be the perfect showcase for any brand making the switch to electric cars.

...when FIA World Rallycross makes its inaugural appearance this September, I hope they throw a few more laps into each session.

It probably made a lot of sense being broadcasted on “Channel 5" as well. In a few years all new cars will have electrical engines with no gears too, and the name will be even more outdated..
Reminded me of Ludvig Hunsbedt at Lyngås in 1997, only that was in the final. Legendary race, although it ended with a DNF instead of second.
They usually only use yellow flags when someone is stranded somewhere, with double yellows when stranded on the racing line. They could have black flagged him, but they usually don’t.
Joker lap.
I think it’s a question about money as much as safety. Given Citroëns tight budget and the costs of Meeke crashing so much, they had to do something. They couldn’t even run three cars for the whole season this year. Now they see that other drivers with less experience in the car can score a similar amount of points…
