He ran full seasons the last two years in the GRC, placing second in the championship after a pass in the last final of the season, and placing in around 5th (not bothered to look it up right now) due to having led the majority of the season, losing out due to a myriad of inconsistent mistakes in the final 4-5 races

World Rallycross seems like it could be a good medium for Ken Block, in between WRC and GRC.

That’s lovely. There’s a nice Norwegian named Solberg who looks forward to showing him what he can do with his Hoonigan BS.

This makes me so excited. World Rallycross is so much better than GRC. Dedicated tracks help that a lot, but the joker lap format in World Rallycross makes the racing much more interesting for me. Good luck to Mr. Block with factory backing!

He’s shown good pace in the World Rallycross rounds he’s done so far, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him win a couple this year, but I doubt he’ll be able to consistently match pace with the Solberg or Hansen* teams.

I often get fussed at by the wife for watching “cars” on TV so much. When watching Rally Cross, she really enjoyed it and mentioned how cool it was compared to other racing on TV, and I don’t ever watch Nascar.

Are you serious? That’s amazing! I thought Loeb was busy creating his own WRC team. I can’t wait for August!

I always get free tickets for the GP3R, the event that hosts the Canadian round of the rallycross championship. I went last year and saw Solberg there. This year should be even more interesting then!

Be glad you’re making these comments here and not at r/formula1 they would be flaming you out like crazy.

Carlos has been dealing with that curse for a looooong time

This comes as a now surspirse. WRC drivers have always been fast from the words go on their first attempt at Dakar, but they have also shown the lack of experience in the dunes and with the navigation. It has happened to all of the racing legends who took on Dakar; especially in the last decade or so. McRae and Sainz

*Imagines Adele singing “You Give Love a Bad Name”*....

I’m ok with this.

I don’t know, feels like if Adele was starting to make Bon Jovi covers.

The current 40 series is V40 only. Well, there’s a V40 Cross Country as well with extra plastic and ride hight.

Uhmm, Duurtlang, that’s not really how ijzel works.

In ‘80 I put about 1000 mi. on one of these (a ‘79, I think)on a driving tour of Europe. I remember it as a bit bland, but with enough power for the Alps and the autobahn. It had an autoclutch or some such. It would upshift if you put your hand on the shifter briefly, but the trans stayed disengaged if you maintained

Their rallying had little to nothing to do with competing with roomy FWD competitors. The Golf was in it’s infancy at the time and nearly all of their competitors were RWD though few had a rear transaxle (DAF and Lancia?). FWD didn’t take off as the norm until the 80’s.
