If they continued? Well, not sure they would have something to compete against the x Gr. B-cars - like Mr. Rallycross’ RS200. And others from Audi and Peugeot...

This is the most Jalop car in the world. The transaxle and suspension make it like a Swedish Alfa.

No rally version as yet but the Heico V40 Diesel race car is a start.

Jet fuel doesn’t melt Teslas.

Fiat Bravo, Torch!

Volvo is on a roll. Watch out.

I’m excited about Volvo. I want to see them obliterate BMW and Mercedes.

Dawg we’ve done this like 16 times already. Let me save you all some trouble, because the last one was barely half a year ago.

Mmmmm... Christmas memories. Grew up with this, “Flåklypa Grand Prix” in Norwegian. Wouldn’t be Christmas if I didn’t get to see this on TV. They’ve made a full-size Il Tempo Gigante (the car), first with a 8.2 liter Cadillac engine, later changed to a highly tuned Chevrolet engine. It’s a beast, over 6 meters long

Congratulations, Mr. tromoly, on today’s COTD! I would like to gift you with a Shelby Cobra which the lovely Danica Patrick will deliver after Christmas. If Danica Patrick married Patrick George, she would be Mrs. Danica Patrick George. Or would Patrick George be Mr. Patrick Patrick?

Can I just make a general reply about all kinds of races in any movie, whether they be horses, people or cars?

The Chrysler Crossfire.

The Audi A2 made extensive use of Aluminum (sup F-150) extremely fuel efficient (the Prius and similar hybrids have a similar shape) and an all around tiny and thrifty package from a luxury automaker circa 1999-2000-ish (Merc and now BMW are getting in on this, and Cadillac fiddled with the concept a few years ago.)

I don’t think this suggestion is as good as the EV1, or some of the others here, but having owned a Subaru SVX when they first came out, they were way ahead of the curve with styling and features, all in an expensive, luxury sport coupe. It was weird, but it was awesome.

Car based not-particularly-utilitarian 4x4 runabouts?

Subaru XT. Funky styling, super aerodynamic (one of the slickest of the time actually), lots of innovative features such as height adjustable suspension, digital dash, tilt/telescopic steering column with gauges that moved along with the steering wheel, electric power steering pump, and of course turbo and AWD.

I see three people that might be Jeremy Clarckson present when this went down. They should be happy only two cars broke.
