It’s no secret the VW was the better car in WRC 2015. And that with a team instruction where everyone was allowed to push for their own chances, Ogier was able to combine speed with an incredibly low amount of mistakes. Latvala had a bit too many mistakes in the start to really challenge Ogier for the title, but his

Rallycross cars rarely share anything else than the main chassis. My point is that it is easier to use something already found in motorsport than something completely new.

That might be more due to the increased professionalism from Fiat, Lancia, Ford and Opel in the late 70’s. As far as I recall even the 142 did well in rallying. The Quattro and 4WD didn’t arrive until the early 80’s.

I guess Volvo quit rallycross when they realized that they needed 4WD to compete with the Quattros and Schanche’s Ford. They entered touring-car racing instead, which is fine as well. That has also resulted in a lot of those touringcars making the move to rallycross, which has been the case with the S40 and C30 lately.

Excactly. Not necessarily luxury car like a RR, but some luxury features that makes it stand out. Style has never been top priority for Volvo, but most of their 6-cylinder models look upper class enough for what it is.

Last time I checked, Scandinavia was part of the real world, but I’ll check again today.

WRC victories should be part of it..

And these days most Buicks are German Opels.. And while they look good, you can feel that they are quite cheap cars.

You called?

This is a good one.

Mostly:
WRC

Only one I’ve ever seen in Oslo is a beater 4x4, both street-parked and moving. Would like to own one, doesn’t excactly require much space.

No, this is a Uno.

Now playing

The podracing sequence is the only Star Wars I’ve ever seen, and that was to compare it to the race in Pinchcliffe Grand Prix (1975, IMDB), the movie that inspired Christian von Koenigsegg to make cars. This music video shows some of it:

Yep. A rally version is missing. Sadly Toyota were either using the Corolla or had left the WRC completely at the time.

Take that to Youtube and Google, not me. Or install AdBlock.

Yes. He can do rallycross as well.

Active diffs are gone (until 2017), but the drivetrain is only restricted to whatever Inline 4 turbo the manufacturer have laying around. It has restricted boost as well, 35 mm restrictor if I recall correctly. Power is also going up in 2017 to about 370 hp, from the 300 we have today.

Is it wrong if I say that I’ve always wanted one of these?

The Opel Commodore Jumbo competed in 1974, using a 6.0 litre V8. Didn’t have much success.
