Fourth generation Subaru Legacy. One of the last cars to rely completely on handling and grip to be safe in tricky conditions. ABS is the only electronics here, no ESP or TC. The last big wagon from Subaru to actually look like a wagon. It’s also one of the most recent Subarus that I want.

Hey, my local circuit! You should make a GIF of the Sierra as well, he really made the most out of what that car’s able to do.

Obviously my GIF-skills isn’t good enough... Or writing for that matter.

After all, it’s got to follow in the footsteps of the half-VW, half-Audi, half-Lamborghini, half-Bentley (yes, I’m aware that’s a lot of halves) Golf W12 concept

I think that would be the predecessor to the 6-series, but still an awesome car.

This was ordinary back then:

Mercedes has always been the most common choice, but these were used as well. I even saw one with a cab history last weekend.

Even the less luxurious, six cylinder Kapitän gave the Europeans a taste of America. They were often used as taxis because of the space (and price), and was something completely different than the regular Beetles and Kadetts of that era.

The new Volvo V60 is coming in 2018, so I get it if somebody doesn’t feel like spending this much money on a car that’s sort of a hybrid in terms of still using the old Ford platform and the previous infotainment system despite having Volvo’s latest engine, gearbox and safety technology as well.

Next up:

Minor differences in 1970-1976, and then pretty much the same for the 1976-1983 models. This one looks like it’s from 1976-1980, though a proper Ford-guy might be more accurate.

This being in Hungary, I think it’s more likely to be a Taunus. Not a huge difference though on these later models..

It doesn’t have to be slow, but I guess the late 50’s early 60’s with the B16 were compared to todays standard. This looks like a later model with a B18/B20, which with a few tweaks can be very quick for a 60’s European family car.

The first round of the FIA World Rallycross championship is held in Portugal this weekend, with a live stream tomorrow. You can find everything you need to know here.

Now playing

And if you wonder why Martin Schanche is cool, take a look at this clip from when he retired from LeMans after 15 minutes.

Strangely this reminds me a lot of E-Type...

Well I guess it was made in the more French part of Canada so that interpretation makes sense!

Figured I should provide a link as well:
