Oh, and what triggered you this time?
Let us know if you ever have something original to say.
Do you guys have an HR department? I feel like if there was ever a justified reason to file a workplace complaint against someone it would be this.
You officially thought about this movie more than the writers did.
The answer to all of these questions is: “there is no answer.” Even if George never had all the answers himself, at least he was good at faking it. This movie just proves to me what I’ve known since Star Trek: Abrams doesn’t care about world building or precedent. He cares only for “rule of cool” (his definition of…
It was a pretty generic movie with a very generic name that felt very safe and very unsurprising. I enjoyed it at least more than I thought I would after all the iffy headlines. But it is definitely not my favorite Star Wars or even the best Star Wars. Not even for this trilogy. The saga ended. I guess this ending…
You both nailed it.
I sincerely believe that there was an excellent movie buried under this mess. The dynamic between kylo/ben and rey was believable and raw (aside from the kiss, which was lousy). The dyad concept was great. Finn discovering others like himself, and the hints that storm troopers were enslaved children was intriguing.…
This movie could have easily hit on all the same points and NOT have been a horrible retcon.
It’s not at all. It’s a middle finger to everyone else, in a way. It’s at the very least fan-service for their sakes. You didn’t like Rose? She’s gone. You didn’t like the parentage answer? They lied to you. You didn’t like change of any sort? Everything’s the same again. I actually thought the movie was entertaining…
Or the ones freaking out about Luke throwing away the lightsaber. In this one Luke lectures Rey about you shouldn’t treat lightsabers like that...
True. But in placating them it kinda created something as bad or worse than what they didn’t like so I do kinda feel like jokes still on them.
Only it wasn’t. It placated them at every turn. Case in point:
“Rose, are you coming with us?”
“No, Leia says I can’t be in this movie.”
Don’t all the Opening crawls imply that “some time has passed and some things happened in that time”?
I half heartedly thought the opening crawl would just be JJ’s diary entry for what he would have done instead for Episode VIII. He ended up using the whole film for that.
So he's Hobbited it then? Great.
Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), the Sith Lord at the center of the previous two trilogies, is back
I mean, yea: you exactly did that.
