Nvidia developed the Physx GPU accelerated physics simulation plugin(s). It's a really cool software/hardware solution... The very top of the map would be the south pole, as would the very bottom. The north is the center. Imagine a projection downwards in the y axis, then unwrapped.

Wow, this is the first Console generation I've held off long enough to be able to get a special edition. I always felt like I was missing out when previous generations would release the special versions.
