By newcomers I specifically had in mind younger attendees who might be excited to get into the culture and cosplay in particular but get scared off or shamed by jerks that they may not have alot of experience dealing with. Well your analogy isnt a great one because many of the people asking why they arent represented arent choosing to move to a place where they are a minority, they were born there.

I think the point is that as consumers we have every right to give feedback to the people we are buying from as to what we would like from their product.
