I disagree with you on panning. Hard panning all the way. It's fantastic. And as far as finding room for the bass, just put a hipass filter on each instrument except the Kick Drum and Bass and set it to 100Hz-200Hz.

People are blowing this way out of proportion. Sure they focused on the entertainment side of things, only because they knew it would bore the hell out of people at E3. At E3 we will get all the game related stuff and by the end of it people will complain about that too.

Kevin Conroy is voicing someone in this game. Older Batman maybe? Perhaps the CGI fight scene between the Bat and the Merc with a mustache was later on? They haven't shown any in game footage so, at this point, there is no reason to doubt it is still a true Origin story.
