I would extend some of this criticism to non-profit institutions, including public institutions. There may not be shareholders that benefit from their practicies, but there are stake holders. Far too many people are pursing bachelor degrees than actually should be.

The stigma should also be associated with the cost of treating the disease. This is a cost born by everyone who has insurance, to one degree or another.
