i don’t think sony buying square would benefit either square or sony enough for that to happen. it makes more sense for square to simply make exclusivity deals and remain independent, as it increases the value they can demand from such deals.

Sony does have a record of integrating technology and collaborations between their studios—rather than leaving them isolated and grasping. 

maybe they should just not be buying studios, then—considering that they are only adding to the impression that they have no vision for the future of gaming besides monopolizing it.
