not overly hostile. this blog is basically “things we’re shitting on today” at this point. 

overlooking my point, which was that top gun 2 waited out the pandemic by several years and made serious bank. paramount and cruise certainly come out of the pandemic looking much wiser for that choice. all of these other choices made by warner bros. just look really desperate by comparison.

maybe we didn’t hear much because it stunk? hate to state the obvious. 

truthfully, that’s every prestige Hollywood director after they mangled Tenet’s release and dumped Dune onto HBO Max. especially after seeing Top Gun 2's approach of simply waiting out the pandemic all the way, despite Paramount being in a consistently worse position historically than the WB.

hate to be the cynic here, but it’s “whichever interpretation of the truth better benefits the speaker” —this is a very expensive movie and no one wants to position themselves as being at fault. 

i’m entirely on board with seeing this film, but i have to admit the idea of a space-faring race of hunters using arrow-based ammunition seems a bit odd.

ZS’s Justice League was pretty good though. and i don’t even say this as a fanboy or anything like that. i admired its grandiosity.

it kind of sucks that the Vikander film basically salted the earth on the only good tomb raider story worth adapting. i’m afraid they’ll have to take the cringey jolie interpretation again.

although it’s funny to think that Phil Fish and D’Astous are basically saying the same thing—that modern Japanese game developers are a shadow of their former selves. with some notable exclusions.  

i think that sony’s acquisition of square enix is basically inevitable at this point. but it seems kind of pathetic, in a way. square enix, from an outsider’s perspective, should be a powerhouse, independent developer.

the purpose of the Gordy story was to show, at least in part, how a predator can be set off by loud noises. the is paralleled by how the UFO behaves. OJ, who is deeply familiar with animal behavior, noticed this and realized he was dealing with an animal, not a space ship.

i liked how the design of the ship could also support the “it’s just a weather balloon” theory that’s been common since the 20th century.

i really loved the film. also, best cinematographer character in film!

is misreading a game the same thing as the game saying something unintentional? does a game need to account for every unique form of media illiteracy? 

true story: my wife is from Kowloon! she was only a very young child when she lived there, but her memories were not miserable. her family lived there to save money and every day travelled across the bay to Hong Kong island to work.
