how old are you? believe it or not, someone who maybe picked up skyrim when they were a child or teen probably feels the difference between 2011 and 2021 more distinctly than you do. it’s a trick of the brain. for those who picked it up, as i did, in their mid-20's, after the brain’s fully developed, we no longer feel

...so that’s your takeaway on this article.

hatchet is definitely a murder hobo

People unfortunately tend to have a problem of looking for a reason to be offended regardless of intent”

you’re right—but it’s just a bit more odd in this instance, given that gloomhaven was already fairly inclusive in its representations. anyone who picks up the game would get the unmistakable impression that it’s made with some sensitivity towards gender and sexuality, which are also big red flag topics for bigot gamers

table top board games still have a lot of growing up to do to match genuine role playing games. as it is, gloomhaven is just “ultra chess”. which is great, but it’s almost satirical that the goal of “kill everything” has to be re-stated at the beginning of every mission, a hundred times over.

the best writing advice i’ve received is to use only as many words as needed to communicate my point. i now pass this lesson on to you.

as a frosthaven backer i couldn’t be more amped for this game. the major weakness of gloomhaven is the boilerplate fantasy narrative, and literally any effort expended to add a bit of nuance to that is welcome—especially considering how sophisticated the tactical gameplay is.

children don’t typically have money. now, granted, these are probably scalpers, BUT in the event that these cards are destined for the hands of each adult’s child or children, i’m kind of glad they weren’t there. they would’ve been endangered.

you must’ve been there

it’s sOo problematic.

the first season of westworld is indeed very fucking good. it’s the second season that killed my interest in it—although revived in small amounts in season 3's first half.

adult content should only be between a man and a woman, not a man and a machine!

yikes.

snyder cut is good though.

think about it this way. his fans were going to keep making noise one way or another, so snyder helped guide it towards a very good cause that he strongly believes in.

it’s important to keep in mind that it was also a drawn-out advertising stunt meant to help will an unfinished film into existence”

i don’t think warner bros. ever considers any of their superhero films to be one-offs anymore. and honestly it’s not just that he’s old, i think he looks old.

john boyega’s scenes were the highlight of these new films. i’m not sure if that’s the character MBJ read for, but that’s the inference here, i think. weird of you not to mention boyega.

he’s way too old at this point, i think.
