this is also how i interpreted yoda’s involvement in the last jedi—as setting the ground word for some serious luke skywalker payoffs in part 3. ‘rise of the skywalker’ sort of suggests as much.

i’m sticking with the theory that there’s an in-universe explanation for rey being overpowered—that she’s the result of one of palpatine’s genetic experiments to  create an overpowered sith apprentice, and rey is just one of many clones. here’s hoping i’m not completely let down by the next film.
