they went after a website that was very conveniently hosted in the united states. it’s much more difficult to serve a lawsuit against a website hosted in, say, eastern europe or central asia, where those countries lack the legal power or even interested in enforcing these kind of intellectual property right disputes.

i wonder if the writer acknowledges how essentially conservative they sound? kazakhstan is a pretty wealthy oil country, has a booming tourism industry, and almaty is the biggest city in that country. they can easily afford what is, let’s be honest, a relatively cheap art installation. 

critical difference is that a live-action movie never looks right when it’s been dubbed. with anime, the lip animation is never very accurate to begin with...
