I honestly wonder if Whedon actually truly believed the things he was saying early in his career?

I kind of liked that, really; in the original movie, Dr. Serizawa sacrifices himself to destroy Godzilla, a monster born of nuclear radiation, with the Oxygen Destroyer. In King of the Monsters, Dr. Serizawa sacrifices himself to revive Godzilla, a monster injured by the Oxygen Destroyer, with nuclear radiation.
Too soon?
“An iceberg with a little pointy peak on top that descends in an ice cream cone shape would float on its side.”
Yea, this statement confused me. This is the reckoning. Right now. We’re watching it unfold in real time. I don’t see Whedon fans lining up to defend him, if anything we (yes, I was one) feel incredibly betrayed and grossed out by all this. The only question now is how much worse can it get, given Trachtenberg’s…
Thanks, man, that’s nice of you!
Oop. I am still greyed myself on Giz. This and Jalopnik must be the last ones.
Just giving a reply and a star over here to help you slowly gain whatever points you need to get ungreyed.
One way to differentiate retailers from scalpers is that retailers at least add value to the manufacturer, while those douches add value to absolutely no one outside their “operation”.
Truly, thank you.
For many years, Joss Whedon was so untouchable. I’m glad that Charisma Carpenter is finally being heard. Carpenter stated at DragonCon in 2009 that Whedon fired her for getting pregnant, but there was very little public response. About ten years ago, I was flamed on this very blog for posting the YouTube clip of…
I think it was pretty well known for a long time that Whedon was a pretty shitty person with respect to how he treated a lot of his cast and crew.
When all this started to come out I was so disappointed. I hadn’t seen Buffy, but Firefly is still one of my favorite sc-fi shows, especially for how well the female characters were written and presented.
I remember feeling so happy when that story came out about how Joss was asked by a reporter: “Why do you always…
No, Ray Fisher still handled things in a terrible manner that hurt his credibility. Charisma Carpenter did things the right way with specific examples, no grandstanding, no slogan, no changing targets and no ultimatum.
Ray Fisher’s accusations were so vague I don’t blame anyone for disregarding them.
username checks out.
I came here to comments that it’s uneccesary because I don’t think it was a very good film.
If it was indeed a spelling mistake there is hardly any way to prevent this from happening again. Editors look at the text bubbles but not necessarily at the drawn content of a panel.
The problem is that the vast majority of our American literature (and we could throw Europe in there too, but just sticking to American makes it easier) is specifically written from a WASP point of view. It others ever other group and slots them into stereotypes seen through that WASP lens.
