You are talking about Mega Man. They're not the same series. And Capcom's neglect of Mega Man brought this series into existence to fill the void.

We don't know if the series will be an on-going story or (what you seem to fear) a Sonic Boom style show. Remember the backstory states Beck wasn't designed to be as combat oriented as the others. I'm hoping he'll start off inexperienced but eventually become the Super Fighting Robot he needs to be.
