Not true. Besides the ones that are linked to Origin and god-forbid Games for Windows I've had several games that weren't linked. Spore however, that was a bugger. 4 disks and I still had to download tons of crap to get that to work.

Well there's also Nintendo, Ouya and Gaming PCs but they all have their flaws as well.

I think it's the issue about MS wanting to do it with psychical disks. With steam you download the games but if you can't hand a disk that exists in the real world and use it it becomes an issue.

I wonder if the Ouya will get a boost from this?

I guess this will be a test of Sony's PR if it's false. If they can dispel the rumors rather than stay silent and let it destroy their fanbase like Microsoft's brilliant strategy then kudos.
