This is one of the biggest problems with the entire workforce. That somehow what my work is worth to the organization is based off my previous salary.

Good luck. Most job applications have ‘previous salary’ as a required field. Hell, even if you think answering “will discuss” or something won’t just get your application thrown out, some of the applications actually check for numbers.
