It that the show posits the skills of survivalism as inherently masculine, male skills - that knowing how to find shelter and build a fire is a men's thing specifically.

That's taking a quality that should be admirable and taking it way past the other side into unreasonable. I don't like being in debt to my friends, but I seriously don't sweat it if a few bucks go one way or the other. One of the great conveniences of friendship for me is grabbing your friend a coffee or a beer

This makes sense. I'm sure that there are lots of people who are unhappy in their jobs and their employers know it, but who otherwise are still performing at an acceptable level. It would be pretty unreasonable to fire someone just because they are unhappy, but you'd realistically want a person in the position who is

Okay, okay, so I recently figured out that Americans don't have Smarties (The chocolate kind). But don't tell me you don't get Coffee Crisp either.

I've got my heart set on Margaery really. Because she is a sneaky, sneaky lady who just HAS to be up to something. :)

I haven't read the books, and I try to avoid spoilers like the plauge, but the moment that Oleanna Tyrell said " Killing a man at a wedding is such bad taste" I knew, KNEW Joffrey was a dead man walking.

Now playing

Idea channel has something interesting to to say about this:

Crabbaskets. Now I'm going to have to go run out and watch Captain America before I dig Shield out of my PVR.

This is true. I usually ask people if they have any intention of seeing a movie or reading a book before I spoil it. If they do, I do my best to avoid spoilers!

I got a call like this when I was staying with my parents a couple of years ago. Their house had gotten some flood damage, so much of their stuff was in storage, including their desktop PC.

Gross Gross Gross. Hmm, I'm going to guess that It's that I've worked so many jobs that were mostly women. I've only had three summer jobs that weren't 50% or more (and where I currently work we waffle between 50 - 60% women) and one didn't count, because you'd have to be an especially stupid sleazebag to harass your

Out of curiosity, were you up north in Fort Mac (which I've heard is really bad), or in one of the bigger cities?

This all sounds awful (especially the comments). My teenage work experiences contained none of this - but upon reflection, most of the places I have ever worked have been staffed mostly by women, and all of my retail jobs had women managers.

No one is too old for My Neigbor Totoro. Unless they are already dead inside.

If animation is alright, I'd give Studio Ghibli a go: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. It's got a wonderful female protagonist & female villian who are ostensibly Japanese, a very good English voice cast, and its deep enough for some classroom discussion. It'll be relatively easy to find too, compared to some of

Wait, what happens if you don't do that???

I like Sangria as much as the next gal as a warm weather drink, but Guinness is an all weather beer appropriate for all occasions, so it's not even a question :)

Yo, these are high school students, not toddlers. They are perfectly capable of processing information like this. Heck, I'm pretty sure toddlers could handle information like this.

I am all for a Tilda thread. Please accept the only one I currently have in my collection (soon to be expanded it seems!)
